Job Description:
Everest Insurance, a member of Everest Re Group, Ltd, has an opportunity available for a Vice President, Ceded Reinsurance at our Warren, NJ headquarters (location flexible). Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage the negotiation and placement of reinsurance treaties for Everest Insurance. Placement includes developing marketing materials and reinsurance submission packages that represent underwriting strategy and coverage needs to reinsurers and conducting marketing discussions with reinsurers. Assist in executing alternative reinsurance strategies including the placement and/or establishment of ILWs, CAT bonds and Side Cars. Assist the underwriting units in optimizing the use of reinsurance and alternative reinsurance, in support of the business strategy. Assist in the accounting for ceded premiums and losses and the pursuit of past due balance owed by reinsurers/retrocessionaires. Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders (e.g. accounting, claims, actuarial, underwriting, intermediaries, reinsurers, etc.) to develop and drive seamless processes around ceded reinsurance. Ensuring compliance with local regulations, corporate/regional/legal entity reinsurance strategies, guidelines, and risk appetites and managing exceptions. Qualifications, Education &
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of progressive and relevant experience with an insurer, reinsurer or intermediary Has managed the placement process for treaties for various lines of business. Has been involved in planning for underwriting and reinsurance strategies. Has been involved in catastrophe and capital modelling and understands the technical aspects of these processes. Has executed an established process for treaty reinsurance purchasing and accounting. Prior interaction with Company senior management a plus. Professional designation (such as FCAS, CPCU, ARe) a plus Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of different forms and structures for Treaty Reinsurance. Familiarity with alternative reinsurance structures (ILWs, CAT Bonds, Side Cars) and how they are used Knowledge of Treaty Reinsurance Contract language - what is standard and what is achievable in the market. Strong analytical skills. Strong technical communication skills - both written and verbal. Strong technical competency - underwriting skills, accounting (GAAP and statutory), Office 365, Outlook, Teams. Collaborative - especially with internal business partners. Strong project management skills - extraordinarily well-organized and able to consistently meet tight deadlines. Strong negotiating skills.
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Banking, Loans & InsuranceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
